In my Arcana Evolved Conversion Document, I stayed clear of the alignment domains. I knew the spells in Arcana Evolved probably wouldn't support the conversion, and I wasn't familiar enough with the Spell Treasury to use that.
But as I sat down to start converting Night of Dissolution, I got to thinking... And here's the result.
The Oath Domains are based off the idea inSpell Treasury that if you believe strongly enough, you can use that belief to cast certain spells. So I'm skirting the issue of actual alignments a bit and replace them with strongly formulated and quite simplistic belief systems. And just as there are those who willingly embrace the evil of a Champion of Darkness, there will be those who take the Oath of Malevolence.
As in the Conversion Document, these domains become available when a PC or an NPC takes the Priest
feat. A few clarifications to the Conversion Document:
- Taking the feat gives you the abilities of one domain.
- You can take the feat several times, where each instance will give you the abilities of another domain.
- If you are not a spellcaster, you can still benefit from the Granted Power of the domain in question, as long as the Granted Power does not depend on you being a spellcaster.
And as indicated above, it's a really, really good idea to have the Spell Treasury for this article.
